AVG Anti-Spyware Free is a free anti-spyware protection tool developed by GRISOFT for home use. Anti-Virus programs offer insufficient protection against urgently growing threats like Trojans, Worms, Dialers, Hijackers, Spyware and Keyloggers. That's where the protection of AVG Anti-Spyware begins and supplements existing security applications to create a complete security system - because only a complete security system works effectively.

Features:
  • Easy to use protection – install and forget
  • New program versions and updates, for free, throughout the license duration
  • 24/7 technical support provided at no extra cost
  • Resident shield with on-access scanning
  • Unique automatic threat-removal anti-spyware engine
  • Self-protection at kernel layer guarantees gapless monitoring
  • Strong signatures for higher resistance to malware (malicious software) variations

Is this still a half decent client? I swapped to NOD after all manner of issues with Symantec. NOD isn't great....but with a network that is MAC address filtered in any case....it's not half bad

What? NOD does me for what I need. The real "Anti Virus" is not going to stupid sites; making sure your network is secure, and using a hardware firewall (router at least).

NOD32 might not be free but its by far the best AV in the market. If you want something free though AVG is excellent (for being free).

Once again. READ. This is AVG Anti Spyware. NOT AVG anti virus. DUH. And I agree NOD32 is the best av. I have it.

A good way to test for viruses is to run suspicious apps inside VMWare (or some other free VM) first to see if any Facehuggers hidden inside get loose or not. They will harmlessly execute inside the VM without being able to infect your host OS.
