UltraEdit is a powerful disk-basked text editor, programmer's editor, and hex editor that is used to edit HTML, PHP, javascript, Perl, C/C++, and a multitude of other coding/programming languages. I think most home users are overstrained with UltraEdit's options, and its basic mode is not quite as powerful as, let's say, Notepad++...?

Yeah, that's why I prefer EditPlus.

It's a small editor that has what I need, such as HTML + Javascript dual syntax highlighting. More often than not, you seem to have to choose. Maybe not in UltraEdit, but then there's the bloat argument, so I find that editor being a nice middle ground. The download is 1 MB compared to 13.1 MB here with the important stuff for me in. It's stuff like this new encryption support in UltraEdit 14.00 that I'd call bloat. I don't consider that a text editor "feature", but something I'd use a seperate, much more powerful, tool like TrueCrypt for.

Every year they bring out a "new verison" it looks the same as the old one, it does the same things as the old one, it's even pretty much the same size as the old one. And the point of paying for 1 or 2 more features that you'd probably never use ? ? ? ? ?

Personaly a patch for existing users is probably much better, oh but then the company doesn't get paid for it. Oooo what to do ?

I know I wont be paying to upgrade mine from v13.
