It works in FF and Safari right? How can it not work in Opera? Hmmm, oh well, I'll just give it time.

Try reinstalling Opera.. as far as I know it should be able to use FF plugins like silverlight or flash.

You might need to install firefox first, install silverlight... see if works then in Opera.

The old 1.0 package I install for no obvious reason comes up in the Firefox 3 "plugins'" box.

Wise move!
Reduces app size.

There is a definite advantage to keep the runtime as tiny as possible. App size can easily be kept to a minimum with separate downloads much like RSLs in Flex. They are like mini frameworks that user downloads only once.

Flash will not be replaced, people fail to realize how tied some people get to their tools and technology. It's a significant investment to work with something for 10 years simply because there was nothing else to use, and that something (Flash/Fle has gotten pretty decent over the years. Also, ty making a website in SIlverlight today, 99% of your knowlegable clients would tell you it's a bad decision.

There is also brand loyalty Abobe has or how many anti MS haters there are in the world. Did Java get replaced by .NET? no, there is always room for 2 major players in the same space and if anything its a win win for everyone.

I still can't get Silverlight to work with Minefield. Ughh.

edit: It works if I change the UA String. That seems pretty crappy.
