Not here... just downloaded the latest dev build for today... 6-11-09 and crashes opening the preferences... no way to update this version.

Had to uninstall... submitted bug report...

I'm stopping the update of this build. Apologies to those who've already got the update.

We'll push a fix as soon as we can tomorrow.

There's a reason they blocked the release from the autoupdater

^ undu, thanks for the heads up, I just checked and it hadn't auto-updated so now I know why.
#1.6 excalpius on 12 Jun 2009 - 20:23
The new .1 version installed automatically and I have been apparently using it all morning and didn't know it. Works fine, hehe.

This is a developer build, it's on the weekly developer release channel, not the Beta.

I went to the link above, and it's not 3.0 its still 2.0 at least according to my Chrome installation. I'm thinking it's still in Dev?
#3.1 WindSailor on 11 Jun 2009 - 17:43
Yes

If you uninstall Chrome, go to the Dev channel and install the latest build; it still has this problem.

The only way to update the latest dev build is to uninstall and reinstall...
#3.2 WindSailor on 11 Jun 2009 - 17:47
They really should remove it until it is fixed and revert back to the previous dev build
#3.3 WindSailor on 11 Jun 2009 - 23:31
3.0.187.1 is now out... which includes the fix for 3.0.187.0 crashing when viewing the 'options' and 'about' properties.

Whoo deja vu, this Google Chrome thing must really be "faster, safer, and easier" if they have to tell you twice in the first paragraph.
#4.1 SonicSam on 11 Jun 2009 - 17:50
Is it me or is editorial getting a little sloppy in recent days?

For the purposes of undue emphasis, perhaps?

3 already? damn, they'll be at version 20 in 6 months, and no... I'm not impressed, I think it is a joke they moving up the builds for no reason.
#7.1 Juan4Ever on 11 Jun 2009 - 23:42
I was thinking about that too... the "fastest browser" seems to be appliable for their development too.. xD

#8 bradsday on 12 Jun 2009 - 02:29
Uhm, isn't this why it's called a BETA.
#9 shortyg32 on 12 Jun 2009 - 12:00
morons

I am not able to install the Chrome 3 beta. After installing, it still shows version 2.0.172.31.
Is it due to region? I am located in Singapore.

This is a developer release... it is not a beta release.

Early Access Release Channels

About Google Chrome Release Channels

Google Chrome releases updates to different release channels. Subscribing to the Beta or Dev channel means you'll get more frequent (but less stable) updates and you'll get to try new features first. There are three release channels:

Stable channel. Everyone is on the Stable channel when they first install Google Chrome. The Stable channel is updated with features and fixes once they have been thoroughly tested in the Beta channel. If you want a rock solid browser but don't need the latest features, the Stable channel is for you.

Beta channel. People who like to use and help refine the latest features subscribe to the Beta channel. Every month or so, we promote stable and complete features from the Dev channel to the Beta channel. The Beta channel is more stable than Dev, but may lack the polish one expects from a finished product.

Developer preview channel. The Dev channel is where ideas get tested (and sometimes fail). The Dev channel can be very unstable at times, and new features usually require some manual configuration to be enabled. Still, simply using Dev channel releases is an easy (practically zero-effort) way for anyone to help improve Google Chrome.

Note: Early access releases (Dev and Beta channels) will be only partly translated into languages other than English. Text related to new features might not get translated into all languages until the feature is released in the Stable channel.

To read about and install the latest Dev release or Beta release go to the following web page.

If this didn't work to get the latest build on a channel, you can try using the channel changer here...

Does this new build support Windows 7 taskbar features such as jumplists and aero peek (for each individual tab)?

nope, just the most recent opened files and 1 preview per window.

Is there any proof, with numbers, as to say which browser is the fastest?
