VirtualBox is a family of powerful x86 virtualization products for enterprise as well as home use. Not only is VirtualBox an extremely feature rich, high performance product for enterprise customers, it is also the only professional solution that is freely available as Open Source Software under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPL).

Presently, VirtualBox runs on Windows, Linux, Macintosh and OpenSolaris hosts and supports a large number of guest operating systems including but not limited to Windows (NT 4.0, 2000, XP, Server 2003, Vista), DOS/Windows 3.x, Linux (2.4 and 2.6), Solaris and OpenSolaris, and OpenBSD.

VirtualBox is being actively developed with frequent releases and has an ever growing list of features, supported guest operating systems and platforms it runs on. VirtualBox is a community effort backed by a dedicated company: everyone is encouraged to contribute while Sun ensures the product always meets professional quality criteria.

Still having problems with this version. Version 3 introduced errors which for me made my virtual machines work nowhere near as well as previously. Have reverted back to 2.2.4 for now, as it still works perfectly for me. This is an excellent free program, I hope they can sort out these issues with the new releases.

Hi, I installed VirtualBox on an XP machine. I run the wizard to create my first vm which I want to be WinXP also.
Everything went well in the creation wizard, then I started the machine and I got to the "First Run Wizard" which asked me for the winxp media (I'm using a an iso image) and it starts installing.
I got to see the initial screens of WinXP installing and sudenly my host (physical computer) simply restarts without any warning.
I'm new to this but since all is being done using the wizards I guess it is a problem either due to VirtualBox or to my physical computer configuration (Dell Optiplex 740 AMD 642 X2 Dual Core 2GHz,4GB RAM winXP Prof SP3).
Any ideas?
Thanks
