Arriving a few weeks after the release of their newest operating system, Apple has released its first update for Snow Leopard, with aims of increasing stability and fixing some early bugs that have appeared in the system since launch.

Coming in at just under 72MB (71.47 to be exact, though this number has been known to fluctuate for each user, with some seeing 75MB and others only having 10MB), the release includes the usual security patches for an OSX update, and a number of fixes for software that is bundled with Snow Leopard. It also includes some third party fixes to Flash Player and some Sierra 3G modems.

Fixes included in the update:
* Improves compatibility with some Sierra Wireless 3G modems
* Addresses an issue in which some printer compatibility drivers might not appear properly in the Add Printer browser
* Addresses an issue that might cause DVD playback to stop unexpectedly
* Addresses an issue that might make it difficult to remove an item from the Dock
* Resolves an issue in which the Command-Option-T keyboard shortcut would sometimes bring up the special characters menu in applications such as Mail and TextEdit
* Addresses instances in which auto account setup in Mail might not work
* Resolves issues when sending mail with certain SMTP servers
* Addresses an issue in which Motion 4 could become unresponsive
* Includes an update to Adobe Flash Player plug-in version 10.0.32.18

The update can be access via Software Update built into OSX in Snow Leopard or you can download it manually from Apple Here.

Great, an update :-) And ofcourse, it will be followed by 10.6.2, 10.6.3 and so on, and so on... I'll install this on my MacBook Pro when I get home, which incidentally, costs the same as an equally spec'ed Dell XPS M1530...

People whined because of Flash, well now it's fixed. It took quite a while, but at least it's bundled with other updates. Now all I need is to get my hands on my pre-ordered copy and install it... but first I need to receive it.

2 weeks = quite a while? People could have updated flash by themselves in the meantime too.

Yea this has been one hell of a fast release. I was surprised.

Quite fast? Nice excuse there...
I think Apple relised how bad the OS was and how it still is bad news.
I'm sticking with Leopard and will NEVER switch to snow leopard and i just don't understand how epople can sit there liying to themselves over this very bad release of an OS.
