Because of the security issues, we strongly recommand everybody to update its version of VLC.
how VLC Player got super popular over The KMPlayer is beyond me.
it's sorta like... ImgBurn is to CD-DVD Burning as to The KMPlayer is to video playback... both are THE BEST at what they do
That said, my default video player is WMP12. I just like to keep a backup in case a file doesn't cooperate with WMP... that, and both KMPlayer and VLC seem to be more compatible with partially downloaded files.
maybe, but seriously... VLC Player cant even do VERY BASIC stuff properly like skipping forwards or backwards with the slider bar in a video file (i.e. .mkv 720p etc)... that right there is a major flaw if you ask me to the point it almost makes it unusable... pretty much all other video playing software i tried can at least do this much properly... i am actually surprised they have not fixed this yet being how popular VLC is.
but there's also lots of people, especially with ImgBurn, that would agree with me because the more technical minded people tend to like ImgBurn a lot where as the average user might not like it since it's interface aint 'fancy looking' like some other burning apps out there but once you learn a little about it, it's pretty simple to use overall although it is slightly technical so i see how it could be a turn off for some people and it loads up quick to.
but i like ImgBurn because it's quality coded (made by the same guy who used to make DVD Decrypter until they shut him down on that but that program 'was' THE BEST for decrypting dvd's... i don't think anyone could dispute this for the most part. so after they closed that down he started making ImgBurn) and gets straight to the point AND it's FREE.
but at he end of the day... when VLC Player cant even do basic stuff like i explained above, yet it seems to be really popular, which is odd because most popular software is usually good but in this case there's stuff like KMPlayer etc that's far better in my opinion because aint it safe to assume people go back (and forward) in video files/movies they watch at least from time to time with the slider bar or skip back a few seconds to re-watch something that might be funny etc?
because if VLC fixed this much... it would be all around decent software but as is i don't even think it's close to video playing software like KMPlayer etc.
seriously, you like WMP over a 3rd party video playing software? ... as far as i know WMP won't play dang near all video formats like KMPlayer etc etc will as you typically need to install some sort of codec for WMP to work on XviD (.avi) or .mkv etc.
you just got alot more 'control' over your video files with stuff like KMPlayer etc vs WMP in my opinion.... and as far as interface i think KMPlayer is nice ( i prefer the classic interface over the modern one myself ) and gets to the point and you can hit esc to minimize the player and hit the arrow keys to jump forwards or backwards in a video file etc etc.
so while WMP typically works well enough once the proper codecs are installed... it does seem pretty basic though.

That's my biggest gripe against it as well. The thing is hideous.
Not sure what you mean here, because I can skip around just fine in an MKV file with the slider bar in VLC.

It also seems like KMPlayer never gets updated, while VLC is always moving ahead. I do value progress in my software.

Apart from interface, how well does it compare to VLC? Does it play all the files and DVD's just as we use VLC for?
