Microsoft has announced that the latest version of PowerShell, PowerShell 7, is now generally available. It contains a handful of new features and improvements, and it's based on .NET Core 3.1.

The On-premises data gateway service is picking up some new PowerShell cmdlets in preview. These aim to automate gateway management tasks and require PowerShell core 6.2.2 or higher to run.
Microsoft has published its PowerShell Core program as a snap package. Snaps make installation easier as you don't need to manually install software dependencies and you get updates automatically.
