1.26 million Xbox 360 consoles sold in US in November 2012

Microsoft had a big Black Friday sales week for the Xbox 360 division, with the company announcing it sold 750,000 units in the U.S. that week.  Today, Microsoft announced that it sold 1.26 million units of the console in the U.S. during all of November 2012. This is the 23rd consecutive month the Xbox 360 console has sold more than any other current generation console in the U.S.

Gamesindustry.biz reports that gamers spent a total of $1.2 billion in the U.S. in the month of November on Xbox 360 hardware and software, more than the PS3 and the Wii combined. However, the numbers for November 2012 are still lower than what Microsoft reported for November 2011, when it said it sold a whopping 1.7 million Xbox 360 consoles in the U.S.

In terms of the overall retail games market, it was yet another month of lower sales. Gamesindustry.biz reports that, according to the NPD Group, total revenues for both game hardware and software came in at $2.55 billion for the US, an 11 percent drop compared to a year ago.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was the best-selling game in the U.S. in November, followed by Microsoft"s Halo 4, Assassin"s Creed III, Just Dance 4 and Madden NFL 13. Keep in mind that NPD"s figures do not include sales of downloadable games.
