1sqbox developing classroom management app for Windows 8

Microsoft has been promoting the use of Windows 8 in classrooms in the U.S. in recent months and today a software startup company has announced it has partnered with Microsoft to launch a new classroom app for grades K-12 that will be made for Windows 8.

1sqbox (pronounced One Square Box), sent Neowin an email announcing the partnership which will yield a Windows 8 version of their previously released Android app. The press release states:

1sqbox is an intuitive management system that allows teachers, students, principals and parents to communicate in real time via a state-of-the-art tablet-centric application. Everything that is needed for classroom management, student learning, administrative tools and parental monitoring is housed in one central application — an all-inclusive square box.

While the press release states that the app will be made especially for the Surface tablet, it"s possible that the app will run on any Windows 8 PC. 1sqbox launched in 2012 and has released its software for the Android OS, along with its own custom Android tablets that the company sells to schools.

There is no word if there was any financial terms to this partnership between 1sqbox and Microsoft, although a post on the company"s Facebook account does show that 1sqbox is now a part of the Microsoft BizSpark program.
