360 Topped US Charts Over Christmas – NPD

Market analysts NPD have suggested that Microsoft"s one year old console topped the US hardware charts this Christmas. But the Wii only trailed by 200,000 units. Preliminary estimates suggested that the 360 sold 2million units in North America from the beginning of November up until December 25th.

Nintendo on the other hand are expected to have sold 1.8million units, but were hampered by a later launch date of November 19th, with all stock being sold out within hours of sale. Sony"s PS3 had a much larger stock problem, although these shortages seem to be eased recently. It is expected Sony sold 750,000 units before Christmas.

NPD are expected to release complete figures later this month.
