Software company Futuremark"s best know product is 3DMark, which benchmarks graphics performance on Windows PCs, and has since expanded to include Android, iOS and Windows RT devices. Today, it was announced that the Windows version of 3DMark will get an additional DirectX 11 benchmarking demo, designed to be run on gaming laptops and mid-range desktop PCs.
The new demo is called Sky Diver, and as shown in the video above, it shows a woman flying down in a wingsuit and navigating her way though some rather rocky and dangerous looking locations. The Sky Diver benchmark is one level below 3DMark"s Fire Strike demo, which was designed to be run on high end gaming desktops.
Futuremark states:
With 3DMark, you can benchmark the full performance range of modern DirectX 11 graphics hardware. Where Fire Strike is like a modern game on ultra high settings, Sky Diver is closer to a DirectX 11 game played on normal settings. This makes Sky Diver the best choice for benchmarking entry level to mid-range systems and Fire Strike the perfect benchmark for high performance gaming PCs.
Sky Diver will be added as a free update for both the free and paid versions of 3DMark; Futuremark has yet to announce a specific date for when the update will be released.
