Research in Motion (RIM) may be facing delays in the production of its new 3G BlackBerry phone, named "Meteor", according to sources within the company. Although originally scheduled to launch in June, its release may be pushed back to as late as August, which is bad news for a company whose current product line is in need of a refresh. Although the reason for the delay isn’t clear, some sources say AT&T had concerns about call quality, while others speculate that AT&T may be using a tech glitch as an excuse to avoid having two competing 3G smartphones launch at the same time. Apple’s new iPhone is expected to debut in June, and could potentially grab BlackBerry sales.
