3GSM Kicks Off

The 3GSM Annual World Congress 2006 kicked off today with a flurry of press releases from various companies. The 3GSM congress consists of anything and everything mobile telephone related.

To summarise todays events:



  • HTC (the main Windows Mobile manufacturer) announced that is belives push email (the ability to receive email in a similar fashion to current Blackberry devices) will have a far reaching effect.

  • Nvidia & Dibcom launch their DVB-H chipset for handheld TV

  • Microsoft announce new devices with MSFP (Messaging and security feature pack). Existing devices (WM5) will receive free upgrades to enable additional security features and "push email".

  • Microsoft and Motorola will support Windows DRM on Motorola handsets

The 3GSM conference is officially opening tomorrow so we will keep you up to date with the latest and greatest mobile invensions throughout the week.
