The 3GSM Annual World Congress 2006 kicked off today with a flurry of press releases from various companies. The 3GSM congress consists of anything and everything mobile telephone related.
To summarise todays events:
- HTC (the main Windows Mobile manufacturer) announced that is belives push email (the ability to receive email in a similar fashion to current Blackberry devices) will have a far reaching effect.
- Nvidia & Dibcom launch their DVB-H chipset for handheld TV
- Microsoft announce new devices with MSFP (Messaging and security feature pack). Existing devices (WM5) will receive free upgrades to enable additional security features and "push email".
- Microsoft and Motorola will support Windows DRM on Motorola handsets
