CES 2013 is the perfect place to demonstrate all the cool stuff that your company has been developing, which is exactly what 3M has done with their gargantuan and outstandingly awesome 84-inch multitouch table. Last year they brought a 46-inch display to the show, but this 84" model - complete with a 3840 x 2160 (4K) resolution and 40-point capacitive multitouch sensor - marks a definite improvement.
3M hopes that the table, still in the prototype stages, will be used in places like schools and museums, but it would surely be cool to also see it running Windows 8. When it eventually hits the market in Q3 2013, the panel should be able to support more than 100 concurrent touches via a new wired-based sensor array that can scale up without a performance hit.
Currently there"s no word on pricing for this cool piece of tech, but we can"t imagine it"ll be even close to being cheap.
