6-inch Lumia 1320 finally launches in the US, from $229

The Lumia 1320 was announced at Nokia World way back in October, and has since made its way to various markets across the globe, including China and the UK. Almost seven months later, the gigantic 6-inch Windows Phone is finally going on sale in the United States.

The 1320 was announced as a more affordable option to the equally large Lumia 1520. Unlike the 1520"s Full HD display, the 1320"s 6-inch IPS LCD screen offers only 720p resolution, although it is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. You"ll also find a dual-core 1.7GHz Snapdragon S4 processor, a generous 3400mAh battery, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of onboard storage (plus microSD slot accepting cards up to 64GB), and a 5MP camera with 1080p video recording.

The Lumia 1320 is designed with affordability in mind, for those who seek a device with a big screen but who aren"t too fussed about owning a device crammed full of top-of-the-range specs. That makes it an ideal fit for Cricket Wireless, which is the first carrier to offer it in the US. Cricket"s Andy Smoak made a similar point: "With the Nokia Lumia 1320, we are providing big value to customers at a budget-friendly price."

The Lumia 1320 will be available exclusively in Cricket stores and via its website from June 13, priced at $279.99 (or $229.99 after a mail-in rebate, supplied on a Cricket Visa Promotion Card), with no annual contract.

Cricket Wireless is also expected to launch another Windows Phone later this year, the ultra-affordable new Lumia 530 which should arrive in Q4 2014.
