A new Windows 10 Mobile build could arrive later today

With the public launch of Windows 10 Mobile closing in, the final touches are starting to be applied to preview builds of the operating system. After stating last week that the next update could be a “few more days” away, Microsoft’s Gabe Aul has now hinted that we may receive a new build later today. This follows the release of Windows 10 Mobile build 10581, which began rolling out to Windows Insiders at the end of October.

Last week we saw the public release of Windows 10 build 10586 on PCs, which marks the first major update to the operating system since launch. This was coupled with the NXOE arriving on the Xbox One, which massively overhauled the console’s user interface. Windows 10 Mobile is currently scheduled to release in December, therefore an RTM build is expected to arrive for Insiders very soon. An emulator for Windows 10 Mobile build 10586 surfaced online last week, which is the likely build candidate for today"s release.

This update will likely improve upon optimization across many handsets and polish up features before the first Windows 10 handsets arrive later this month. The Lumia 950 will arrive in stores this Friday, with it’s larger partner, the Lumia 950 XL, arriving in the following weeks.
