Lenovo isn"t the only one with its eye on gaming and VR, as Acer has now announced a couple of new laptops and also refreshes to its existing portfolio just in time for CES.
Acer has added two new laptops to its Aspire line with the Aspire V Nitro Black Edition and the Aspire VX. At its core, both series of laptops can be configured with up to a Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and either an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or 1050 graphics card. The system will arrive with 16GB DDR4 RAM by default but can be upgraded to 32GB. Lastly, the laptop will be available with either a NVMe PCIe Gen 3 or SATA SSD, with additional storage from an HDD that can be configured up to 2TB. Since it is running Windows 10, the Aspire V Nitro Black Edition will support Windows Hello with its fingerprint reader. There will also be a 17-inch model available, the Aspire V 17 Nitro Black Edition, with the optional Tobii eye-tracking module.
As for pricing, the Aspire V 15 Nitro Black Edition and Aspire V 17 Nitro Black Edition will be available in North America, EMEA markets, and China in February. In the US the price of the V 15 will start at $1,199 with the V 17 starting at $1,399. In EMEA markets, the V 15 will start at €1,299, with the V 17 starting at €1,499 . Both of the aforementioned models will also be available in China in February starting at ¥8,999.
For those looking at something a bit more tame, the Aspire VX 15, might be a good option. The laptop offers Intel"s Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, 16GB DDR4 RAM standard with the ability to upgrade to 32GB and the option of upgrading to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. As for storage, the system will pack a 512GB SSD with a 1TB secondary HDD. The Aspire VX 15 will carry a bit friendlier of a price tag starting at $799 in the US, €899 in EMEA, and ¥5,499 in China and will be available in January.
For those seeking a desktop, Acer has got you covered with their latest offering, the Aspire GX series PC. The setup will be similar to those laptop above with the added benefit of being able to configure a unit with up to 64GB DDR4 RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card. There is no mention of it being available in the US, but the Aspire GX will make its way to EMEA markets and China, starting at €799 and ¥5,999 respectively.
Although this laptop was announced previously in the summer, Acer has finally added the important details of price and availability to its curved-screen laptop, the Predator 21 X. As expected, the laptop will come with a hefty price tag, with those in North America paying at least $8,999 and for those in the EMEA, it will be offered at a starting price of €9,999. The laptop will be available in February in both regions.
Not to be forgotten, Acer will also be updating its Predator 17 X, offering the latest from Intel and NVIDIA. Like its larger 21-inch counterpart, the 17 X will offer the option of upgrading to the latest Intel Core i7-7820HK processor and can be configured with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080. The US and EMEA will get first dibs on the Predator 17 X as it will debut in both regions in January, although the price tag won"t be cheap. The refreshed laptop will start at $2,599 in the US and €2,999 in EMEA. The laptop will make its debut a month later in China with a starting price of ¥39,999.
