Acer Swift 5 unboxing and first impressions

Like all of Acer"s Swift laptops, the new Swift 5 is meant to be super-light without sacrificing style, and the SF514-55TA-74EC does just that. It"s made out of magnesium-lithium and magnesium-aluminum, allowing it to hit a weight of just 2.31 pounds.

Unlike many magnesium laptops that I"ve seen, it"s still pretty sexy. Many magnesium devices stick with a bland, gunmetal gray type of color. Not this one though. The color is called Mist Green, and it has gold accents.

It doesn"t sacrifice performance either, including Intel"s 11th-generation "Tiger Lake" processors. With a Core i7-1165G7, it has Intel"s Iris Xe graphics, meaning that it has a lot more graphics power than we"d have guessed possible in the form factor just a few years ago. It also has Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, faster memory, and more.

On top of that, it comes with 16GB RAM, a 1TB SSD, and a 14-inch FHD display for $1,299.99, which is pretty impressive. Acer is also saying that it gets 17 hours of battery life, so that will be something to test out.
