In a press event at the ongoing IFA 2017 trade show in Germany, Acer has announced a refresh to its Chromebook 15 laptop, which now sports an aluminum design.
The device has a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS screen, two full-sized speakers, and an HD webcam with an 88-degree field-of-view. Buyers can choose between a touch or non-touch display, dual-core Intel Celeron or quad-core Pentium processors, 4 or 8GB of RAM, and 32 or 64GB of eMMC storage.
Two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports are included, which can also be used to charge the device. Users can connect peripherals using Bluetooth 4.2, a headphone jack, the HDMI port, as well as two USB 3.0 ports. The laptop"s SD card reader can handle up to 128GB SDXC cards.
The new Chromebook 15 will also support Android apps, which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store.
Acer claims that the device can last up to 12 hours on a single charge, but this will of course vary depending on the model and specifications of a certain unit, as well as usage patterns.
The laptop will be available in October in the United States and EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), with prices starting at $399 and €499, respectively.
