Acer Windows 10 Mobile flagship available for 25% below full price in UK... with an EU plug

It"s been just over a year since Acer originally announced the Liquid Jade Primo, its Windows 10 Mobile flagship, but the device didn"t actually go on sale anywhere until earlier this year. American buyers faced a particularly long wait - the handset finally launched in the US in July, ten and a half months after it was unveiled.

Over in the UK, the Liquid Jade Primo is available to buy from Acer for £449.99, which includes not just the handset itself, but also a free flip cover, and a desktop docking station to allow owners to use a mouse and keyboard with the handset when connected to a larger display.

But at Expansys.com, the device is available for £338.63 - around 25% less than buying from the manufacturer itself, although while it comes with the free docking station, it doesn"t include the free flip cover. There is one other catch though - the model that Expansys is selling comes with an EU plug, but it"s still covered by a full European warranty that includes the United Kingdom. And of course, the £111 you"d save compared with buying direct from Acer would certainly buy a few EU-to-UK plug adaptors.

The docking station lets owners use a mouse and keyboard when connected to a larger display

The Liquid Jade Primo"s key specs include:

  • 5.5-inch Full HD (1920x1080px) AMOLED screen
  • Hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB storage (plus microSD card support up to 128GB)
  • 21MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and 4K (3840x2160px) video recording
  • 8MP front-facing camera with Full HD (1920x1080px) video recording
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
  • USB Type-C connector
  • 4G LTE connectivity
  • Dual-SIM support
  • 2800mAh battery
  • 156.5 x 75.9 x 8.4mm; 150g

But even with this sizeable saving, you might want to think twice before buying the Acer flagship. Microsoft"s Lumia 950 has similar - and in some respects, superior - specs to the Liquid Jade Primo, but is now priced at £249, including a free Display Dock.
