Acer announced a number of new portable PCs today. Alongside of the Swift 7, Spin 3, and Nitro 5, the firm also introduced a new Chromebook 11. The biggest feature of the Chromebook 11 is that it only costs $249, and it includes some impressive features for that price.
For one thing, the laptop includes two USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C ports, which offer data transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps. Perhaps most importantly though, USB-C allows you to use one charger for a variety of laptops. There are also two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, so you can still use your legacy peripherals.
The 11.6-inch 1366x768 display comes in touch and non-touch flavors, and the device supports Google Play apps right out of the box. This means that you can use the same apps and games as on your phone, all with a full Chrome desktop browser.
“The new Acer Chromebook 11 continues Acer’s tradition of delivering strong performance with all the benefits of Chrome OS at an excellent value,” said James Lin, General Manager, Commercial & Detachable Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc. “Chromebooks are widely known as a fast, easy and secure way to work and play both online and offline. Customers can play games, stay productive, enjoy content and do even more with the new Acer Chromebook 11 thanks to its support of Google Play.”
It comes with 4GB of RAM and either 16GB or 32GB of eMMC storage, and the Celeron processor allows for a fanless design.
The Acer Chromebook 11 will arrive in North America in April starting at $249, and in EMEA regions in March starting at €249.
