Ultra-wide monitors have gained in popularity in recent years, with Dell"s U3415W 34-inch 21:9 curved monitor going after graphics professionals with its factory color calibration while LG literally "went large" with its humongous 38-inch 24:9 curved display. While these displays fall short of the number of pixels pushed by 4K displays (8.29 megapixels), they still manage respective resolutions of 3440 x 1440 (4.95 megapixels) and 3840 x 1600 (6.14 megapixels).
Acer has already carved itself a slice of the ultra-widescreen market, most notably with its Predator X34 curved display, featuring an IPS panel, G-Sync, and the ability to overclock to 100Hz. Now, the company is looking to eclipse it with something even larger.
The new 37.5-inch XR382CQK steps up to the plate with a resolution of 3440 x 1600 and 100% sRGB color space coverage, beating LG"s 38UC99 by a small but potentially crucial 1%. The monitor also boasts a 5ms response time, 75Hz refresh rate, and FreeSync compatibility, which could make it a reasonable choice for some gamers, despite the absence of the Predator branding. In terms of connectivity, the XR382CQK features HDMI 2.0 and DisplayPort 1.2 ports along with four USB 3.0 Type-A ports and a single USB 3.0 Type-C port. Last, but not least, a pair of 7W speakers are built-in, providing rudimentary audio output capabilities.
Acer"s monitor currently attracts a $1,300 price tag over on Amazon but may also require an additional expense if your current graphics card is not up to the task of driving the display"s native resolution.
