In April, Microsoft opened five of its smaller specialty retail stores in the US, along the opening of larger Microsoft Store locations. Today, Microsoft confirmed that four more specialty stores will soon be opened across the US.
Microsoft"s press release reveals that on May 24, the Westfield Galleria at Roseville, California will launch its specialty store. It will be followed on June 5th with two new locations: the The Parks at Arlington, Texas and Twelve Oaks in Novi, Michigan. Finally, June 21st will see the Pacific Place in Seattle, Washington start up its new Microsoft specialty store.
The continued launch of these smaller stores would seem to indicate Microsoft is pleased with this method of directly selling company hardware and software to the public. Microsoft launched the first specialty stores in late October during the launch of Windows 8 and the Surface RT tablet.
Microsoft is still opening its larger retail stores, with the next such event happening on May 18th at the Dadeland Mall in Miami, Florida. Microsoft currently has five more big store openings planned for June, including Honolulu, Hawaii which will open on June 13th; there"s still no word on when Microsoft will open its first store outside the US or Canada.
