AdDuplex: Pro 4 still the most popular Surface, HP is top Windows 10 PC maker worldwide

The latest tracking stats for Windows devices have recently been published by advertising network AdDuplex, which monitors usage across its network to create a detailed monthly breakdown of Microsoft"s mobile ecosystem, along with key details on the usage of Windows 10 PCs. Every month, the reports capture a snapshot of worldwide usage across one 24-hour period - in this case, March 21, 2017.

Similar to the past month, when it comes to the top PC manufacturers worldwide, HP has retained its number one spot, gaining 0.5% from last month"s 23.8%, rising to 24.3%. Dell continues to sit comfortably in second place, gaining 1.2 from the past month, recording a flat 15.0%. The rest of the chart records the same news as the past few months, with Lenovo, Asus, Acer, Toshiba, Microsoft, and Samsung sitting pretty in their usual position.

Heading over to Windows 10 OS versions, the Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1607) continues to dominate a large chunk of the pie, gaining 0.9% from last month, bringing up its share to 91.2%. Slowly but surely, those on the November Update (version 1511) are starting to upgrade, dropping a percent this month, with a record of 6.0%. Not much has changed with the primary release of Windows 10 - dubbed as 1507, dropping only 0.1, resulting to a share of a flat 2.0%. We can expect the Creators Update to appear in the near future, as Microsoft prepares its imminent release.

AdDuplex was generous enough to give us a look into how the Anniversary Update came to dominate the Windows 10 ecosystem. It notes that upgrades started slowly, but in the third month, adoption of the OS version spiked from 35% to almost 80%, as recorded back in October 2016. The subsequent months, while in a slowdown, continued to record a rise to over 90%.

The advertising network firm gives us a look on the current Surface usage share statistics in the United States. While the Surface Pro 4 remains on top of the chart, it dropped a solid 6.0%, bringing down its share to 34.4% this month. The Surface Pro 3 saw a small gain, from last month"s 26.7%, to 27.4%.

In third place, the Surface 3 saw a 0.3% decline, recording a 13.9% share. The fourth most popular device is still the first-gen Surface Pro, with a 2.3% increase, recording a 9.6% share. Trailing behind is the Surface Book, enjoying a 1.2% increase from 6.3%, to 7.5% this March. The Surface Pro 2 joins the party, with a 1.9% increase in shares, recording 6.8% this month. And lastly, the recently-unveiled Surface Studio all-in-one PC sits in last place with 0.3%, an increase from February"s 0.1%.

As it can be seen, there haven"t been any significant changes in the statistics that were released this month. Still, it can be quite interesting to see the adoption rates for Microsoft products, and know how well the audience receives them.
