Adobe today announced Photoshop Elements 3.0, a major update to its digital imaging software aimed at consumers. Billed as "the perfect companion to Apple"s iPhoto," Photoshop Elements 3.0 includes several advanced editing tools that were previously only available in Photoshop CS such as the powerful Healing Brush, which fixes blemishes and imperfections with one click.
Other new features include improved red eye removal and support for Camera Raw functionality for the processing of raw data and 16-bit images for the brightest and most life-like color. Adobe said that the updated editing tools "instantly click away imperfections, transform photos with effects and filters, and correct color and lighting."
Photoshop Elements 3.0 also sports a new and improved file browser that allows users to find their photos more quickly by searching for photos based on a wide range of criteria, including the date and time the photo was taken, the type of camera that was used and the name of the person who shot the photo. In addition, the new version offers new ways to share photos, including Adobe PDF slideshows with music and transitions.
Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0 is priced at US$89.99 and will ship "later this fall."
