While owners of Windows Phone 8 smartphones have a number of apps available to open and read PDF documents, the most popular way to read those files has not been available for that platform. Today, that changed as Adobe released the first Windows Phone 8 version of its free Adobe Reader app.
As revealed on the official Windows Phone blog, the Adobe Reader app lets users open and read a number of different types of PDF documents, including those protected by a password. It also lets users cut and past from those files, along with the ability to zoom in on a page and search for specific words in the document. The blog adds:
Navigate docs quick with thumbnails, then read page-by-page or in continuous scroll mode. Hyperlinks and bookmarks are supported, too, so you can jump directly to a webpage or to a particular section of a PDF.
This app is just for Windows Phone 8 devices; there"s no support for Windows Phone 7 users. Adobe previously released a Reader app made for Microsoft"s Windows 8 OS in December and it has since become one of the most popular free apps available from the Windows Store.
