TiVo announced on Monday a joint effort with several media and advertising agencies to provide its subscribers with searchable ads for selected categories this spring. This feature will allow subscribers to view ads based on interest the user provides in a profile on the TiVo set-top box.
The new feature is aimed at giving advertisers a more targeted and interested pool of potential buys while attempting to steer users away from skipping all ads. The searchable ads build on efforts by TiVo in the past to appeal to advertisers. The company last year announced Video-to-Video, which allows users to watch a 3-minute video featuring products and services that may appeal to them.
