Airbnb has announced that it has launched a new tool that is capable of automatically collecting and remitting tourist taxes from guests on behalf of hosts across Italy. The latest resource integrates over a thousand different tourist tax rules in one digital space and can automate the complete process of tourist tax.
The announcement from the company mentioned that:
This tax simplification is one part of Airbnb’s new Healthy Tourism Recovery Pledge – a series of five commitments to help put healthy tourism at the heart of pandemic recovery in Italy – which was launched by Chris Lehane, Senior Vice President of Global Policy and Communications. This package of measures for Italy follows Airbnb’s announcement of over 50 global upgrades and innovations across its entire service, including features such as AirCover, Translations Engine and Accessibility Verification.
A new collaboration, that has started between Airbnb and the National Association of Italian Cities (ANCIComunicare), will aid in promoting the new "tax simplification tool" and driving sign-ups throughout more than 1000 cities. This partnership also aims to raise awareness on how the new tool will assist in making tax simple through an advertising campaign, a dedicated helpline, and a series of seminars.
The automated tax collection tool will be available for Hosts to sign up beginning in 2022 and has been available for municipalities throughout the country to sign up since the 10th of November.
