At this week"s Mobile World Congress, Alcatel unveiled the Plus12, its new Windows 10 2-in-1 device. It has a 12-inch tablet form factor with a detachable rigid keyboard, which can be folded down into a laptop-style package for easy transportation.
The Plus12 will be priced at just €499 EUR (roughly $530 USD, via direct currency conversion) when it goes on sale in the next few months, but nonetheless includes some very handy features. It comes with integrated 4G LTE connectivity, as well as offering Windows Hello biometric authentication support through the built-in fingerprint sensor (which also doubles up as the power button).
But at this modest price point, there are some trade-offs. The Intel Celeron processor won"t be able to handle much more than the lightest of tasks; despite being promoted as "your office on the move", the Plus12 doesn"t come with Microsoft Office; and it also has one of the most unpleasant keyboards I"ve encountered for a very long time.
