Towards the beginning of this year, HMD Global officially announced its first Android smartphone in the form of the Nokia 6. While this handset wasn"t aiming to be a top-tier phone, it followed the ethos that Nokia phones should offer "premium quality" and "competitive pricing". Now, it seems that a follow up to the device could soon make an appearance.
According to reports, a smartphone codenamed TA-1054 managed to gain TENAA certification, a mandatory requirement for telecommunications devices, and is believed to be a dual-SIM variation of the 2018 iteration of the Nokia 6.
In terms of major specifications, it is believed that the new version of the Nokia 6 will retain its 5.5-inch display but will feature an upgraded 18:9 aspect ratio. Furthermore, the handset will include 4GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage, and either a Snapdragon 630 or 660 chipset. In terms of optics, a dual-lens camera is expected but their corresponding resolutions at this stage remain unknown. Finally, while this year"s Nokia 6 featured a fingerprint sensor on the front, the 2018 model will apparently see it moved to the rear given the move to on-screen navigation controls.
Generally, TENAA certification provides a fairly good indication of an imminent release of a device but, of course, it doesn"t guarantee its ultimate release
