By now, most will be familiar with Amazfit, a company well known for its fitness trackers and smartwatches. Today, as CES begins, the company introduced two new members of its product lineup, the GTR 2e and GTS 2e. As you"d expect, these are variants of the GTS 2 and GTR 2, but they"re more affordable.
The most noticeable difference between the two models is that the GTR 2e is a round watch, while the GTS 2e is rectangular, which also means they have slightly different display resolutions - 454x454 for the GTR 2e and 348x442 for the GTS 2e. The health features are all the same, with 24-hour heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring, sleep tracking, stress monitoring, and everything you"d expect. Both have over 90 sports modes, and a built-in voice assistant that can be used to start a workout even without an internet connection. There"s also something called Personal Activity Intelligence (PAI), which boils down different health metrics to a single number so users can quickly understand what their physical state is.
As for the major differences between the new models and the regular GTS 2 and GTR 2, these new models don"t have a speaker, meaning you can"t use them for calls. There"s also no Wi-Fi support, only Bluetooth. The build is also slightly different, with the metal casing using a matte finish rather than a reflective one, a less curved display glass, and no ODLC (optical diamond-like coating) on said glass.
On the flip side, there"s now a temperature sensor, not available on the regular model, and the battery life is significantly longer. For typical usage, the GTR 2e promises 24 days of battery life (versus 14 on the GTR 2), while the GTS 2e promises 14 days (as opposed to 7 days on the GTS 2).
Both watches are now available to order in the U.S., and both cost $139.99. You can check out the GTR 2e here and the GTS 2e here. They should also be available on Amazon soon.
