Amazon continues to expand the availability of its grocery delivery initiated by Whole Foods Market, which it acquired last year for $13.7 billion. The service was rolled out to Baltimore, Boston, Philadelphia, and Richmond in June. Today, Amazon announced that it is expanding the grocery delivery from Whole Foods to more cities and areas in New York City.
Consumers in Columbus, Dayton, Portland, and Greater Washington D.C. and those residing in Greenwich Village, Chelsea, Union Square, and Murray Hill in New York City will now be able to shop for fresh produce, meat and seafood, and other everyday staples from Whole Foods Market through Prime Now. With the latest expansion, the service is available in 28 cities now, with Amazon planning to bring it to more cities and regions in the future.
Christina Minardi, Whole Foods Market Executive Vice President of Operations, said:
We’ve been delighted with the customer response to delivery in as little as an hour through Prime Now, and we’re excited to bring the service to our customers in Columbus, Dayton, Portland, Greater Washington D.C. and even more neighborhoods in New York City. Just in time for back-to-school shopping, grocery delivery from Whole Foods Market makes getting ready for the new school year with healthy snacks and lunches even more convenient.
Prime members will also be able to receive discounts on select items and an additional 10 percent off of other products on sale. Additionally, there"s a 5 percent discount on Whole Foods Market purchases for Prime members who use Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Card.
