Amazon announces new cloud gaming service called Luna

Amazon has introduced a new cloud gaming service at its hardware event today, called Luna. It"s also available for early access in the U.S. starting today.

The new service naturally relies on Amazon Web Services to let customers play any game with no heavy downloads or complicated setup. Popular titles such as Control, Resident Evil 7, GRID, Yooka-Laylee and The Impossible Lair, and Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons will be available during early access via the new Luna+ game channel, with more games set to be released in the future.

In addition, Amazon has unveiled a new gaming channel with Ubisoft, accessible directly via Luna. When it rolls out, players will be able to access titles like Assassins Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6, and Immortals Fenyx Rising on the same day of their release. These titles will be available in up to 4K resolution and mobile gameplay. Players will also be able to see Twitch streams for games inside Luna and they can instantly play Luna titles from within the streaming platform.

Of course, the service comes with the new Luna Controller featuring Cloud Direct technology. The controller is powered by Alexa and it has a multiple-antenna design built to reduce latency. It allows players to switch between screens thanks to its direct cloud server connection. It"s available at a starting price of $49.99 during the early access period.

Luna will be available on Fire TV, Windows, and macOS as well as on the web apps for iPhone and iPad at launch. In the future, it will also come to Android. Luna+ will be available for a base price of $5.99 per month during the early access phase and subscribers can play on two devices simultaneously, with resolutions of 4K/60fps for select games.
