Amazon Echo Spot coming to Australia next week for $199, pre-orders now open

Amazon has been hard at work expanding the market for the Echo Spot, with the online retail giant having recently released the Alexa-powered device in the UK. The touchscreen-equipped smart speaker lets you watch video flashes, see weather forecasts, create to-do lists, or listen to Kindle e-books without using your hands. Alexa fans down under are now in for the same hands-free experience as the Echo Spot is heading to Australia with a price tag of AU$199.

Amazon is set to roll out the device in the country beginning on April 26. The latest Alexa-powered smart speaker from Amazon is now available for pre-orders, and it will come in black and white color variants. Amazon Australia announced via its Twitter account:

The Echo Spot ships with a 2.5-inch display, front-facing camera, a 1.4-inch native speaker, a 3.5mm stereo port, and four microphones on the top with button controls for the mic, camera, and volume. The Echo Spot also weighs around 450g and measures 104 x 97 x 91mm so that it doesn"t take up a lot of space wherever you place it.

Amazon has teamed up with ABC News and Fox Sports for the launch, with the two partners offering users video news flashes that they can watch on the display.
