Amazon launches free content for Fire TV and Fire Tablet users

Amazon announced today a new feature on the Fire TV and Fire Tablet that lets users access free content from its more than 100 partners. The free content offering is curated, including TV shows, movies, news programs, educational shows, and wellness programs.

These are available via a new destination on the Fire TV and Fire Tablet called #AtHome. Amazon says the list of content will be updated regularly, organized according to themes like “Stay Informed” or “New and Trending”.

Sandeep Gupta, Amazon Vice President of Fire TV, wrote in a blog post post:

"The entertainment industry is shifting the way they think about bringing content to you during this time, and #AtHome from Amazon will be the way to discover all of it. We’ve seen movie studios bring films to streaming early, premium content become available for free, and many extended free trials from apps you may now have time to explore. The music community is bringing live concerts into our living rooms, internet talk shows are creating a space for positivity, and educators are making sure that parents have the tools they need to navigate at-home learning while schools are closed."

The latest change complements Amazon"s recent move of making some of its family-oriented Prime Video content available for free worldwide even for those who don"t have a Prime account. The new feature will provide content from HBO, Showtime, CBS All Access, and Sling TV, among others. It will also stream the upcoming Prime Video SXSW virtual film festival or One World: At Home Together Concert.

Amazon promises to add more content for #AtHome in the future. It"s available in the U.S. starting today and will roll out in the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Canada, and India soon.
