Amazon launches invitation-only luxury fashion category

Amazon has announced the availability of Luxury Stores, an invitation-only section of its website available to customers in the United States. According to the Luxury Stores FAQ, the section carries well-established and sought-after emerging fashion brands, such as Oscar de la Renta. Amazon guarantees authenticity as items are shipped directly from brands.

As things stand right now, Luxury Stores is only available to eligible Prime members in the United States. If you have received an invitation you can gain access right away, otherwise, you can tap the ‘Request an invitation’ button on the landing page to be added to the waitlist.

Commenting on the store’s launch, Christine Beauchamp, President of Amazon Fashion, said:

“We are always listening to and learning from our customers, and we are inspired by feedback from Prime members who want the ability to shop their favorite luxury brands in Amazon’s store. We are excited to offer luxury brands the services and technology to build an inspiring, elevated customer experience. It’s still Day One, and we look forward to growing Luxury Stores, innovating on behalf of our customers, and opening a new door for designers all over the world to access existing and new luxury customers.”

According to Amazon, Luxury Stores doesn’t just bring luxury items from different brands into one central place; the firm said that shoppers will be able to browse exclusive products which could make acquiring an invite more enticing for some shoppers. Going forward, Amazon says it will extend invitations to more shoppers but if you do manage to get one, expect prices to be prohibitive.
