Wearable technology has remained a bit of a novelty since it was first introduced not so long ago. Only the fitness fanatics or hardcore tech enthusiasts would invest in seemingly novel products that look like they came right out of Star Trek.
However, global online retailer, Amazon hopes to bring these gadgets to the ordinary consumer, by adding a “Wearable Technology” page to its list of product categories. The aim of the new store is to inform users as to what is available on the market, as well as offering some attractive deals if you purchase with them.
The article quotes an Amazon explanation of this feature, saying:
"We’re thrilled to bring our customers a store with the largest selection and great prices that helps eliminate the guesswork when deciding which wearable devices best fit their needs -- whether that is tracking activity, staying connected through smart watches or capturing their next adventure with wearable cameras".
Big name brands such as Samsung, GoPro and Nike"s Fuelband are featured on the page, offering smart watches, fitness trackers, and wearable cameras. The new store also provides a Learning Center that consists of product videos and buying advice for the user, allowing purchasers to get the best deal available.
For those wishing to keep an eye on the market, the Editors Corner provides news on the latest devices around, as well as explaining some of the technology behind the products. Amazon aims to attract consumers through a plethora of comparison tools and helpful advice in a bid to make themselves the leading retailer for wearable technology.
