Amazon has announced that it is helping Prime members discover children’s books via a new subscription service called Prime Book Box. With Prime Book Box, Prime customers can get curated children’s books every 1, 2, or 3 months. The service is now available to all U.S. Prime members after a invitation trial began in May. Each box offers a “delightful selection” of hard cover children’s books hand-picked by the firm’s team of book editors.
Each Prime Book Box will set you back $22.99 but the firm said that Prime members who take advantage of the service will actually be saving 35% off the list price.
In its announcement, Amazon quotes Jeff G., an existing Prime Book Box customer, who said:
“My two year old daughter loves books and was in awe when she received this special package. The selection of books to choose from was great and I appreciate the hard cover format. This is helping us build a great library our daughter, Abby, can enjoy throughout her childhood.”
Meanwhile, Seira Wilson, Senior Editor, Amazon Books, said:
“As a mom who’s spent over 20 years reading and reviewing children’s books, the best part of my job is sharing a love of reading with kids and their families. Over the past few months, it’s been both exciting and rewarding to hear that Prime Book Box is encouraging kids to spend more time reading. Now that Prime Book Box is available to all U.S. Prime members, I hope we can inspire even more children to discover a love of reading that will last a lifetime.”
Prime Book Box is being aimed at parents with children under 12. When you sign up, you can tell Amazon about your reader and whether you’d like a box sent every 1, 2, or 3 months. Once you’ve selected your preferences, Amazon will curate your box with new releases, classics, and “hidden gems”. You’ll have the chance to preview and customize the box before it is sent or you can choose to keep the selections as a surprise. Your box will ship for free to your address and you can choose to skip a box at any time.
