LG has announced that the Amazon Music app is coming to its range of smart televisions, going all the way back to the models released four years ago. This includes the 2019 lineup that came with OLED and NanoCell technologies. The company says that the support will be available for the users in "key countries of Asia, Europe and the Americas."
TV models supporting the Magic Remote will enable users to play music hands-free by giving voice instructions to launch and use the Music application. 2020 TV models that feature Bluetooth Surround will be able to play the music on two connected Bluetooth speakers in virtual 4.0 surround sound.
Amazon Prime members will now have access to around a thousand playlists and stations along with two million songs on their LG televisions. Those subscribed to Amazon Music Unlimited will have access to more than 60 million songs and thousands of stations and playlists.
Since LG deploys its proprietary smart TV platform instead of using third-party ones like the Google Android TV, adding an application involves extra work on LG"s end as well as the app manufacturer"s end. The Apple TV app was made available on 2018 LG TV models a couple of days ago, after it launched on the 2019 lineup in February earlier this year. Amazon Alexa support for 2019 ThinQ AI televisions was added last year.
