World e-tailer Amazon has announced plans for celebrating its up coming tenth birthday. As a way of saying thanks to the millions of users who"ve bought from the company, they will be hosting a concert staring music from Bob Dylan and Norah Jones. Jones is said to be appearing exclusively for Amazon, doing no other concerts in 2005.
The concert, planned for July 16th, will be hosted by Bill Maher and will feature music and other comic content. The company will be streaming the concert online, for free, via its website.
Jeff Bezos, CEO, launched Amazon in 1995 from his Seattle-area garage. Amazon has expanded its range of products over the years, and now hosts everything from "music and video to tennis rackets, live Maine lobsters and loose diamonds"; Amazon claim to offer "earth"s biggest selection" of items online. The company has also gone worldwide, operating sites in the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, France, Canada, and China.
Amazon recently launched a brand new layout for its US website; having expanded into many other areas over the last ten years, the design offers a simpler route to the thirty one sections now offered. Fellow child of the dot com boom, eBay, also celebrates its tenth birthday this year.
