If you"ve ever been in a long-term relationship with someone, handing over the keys to your place can be one of the bigger moments in that commitment. However, Amazon feels that they deserve access to your house as well when delivering packages, with its latest Amazon Key product.
The concept is quite simple, as the video above will attest, having the smart lock installed on your front door will give you the ability to allow access to anyone via the included camera, or the mobile application. If for instance, you"re waiting for that all too important Amazon delivery, but don"t want it to stand outside in the pouring rain, you can let the delivery guy get access to your house. On the flip side, if your Mother-in-Law decides to visit while you"re away, you have the ability to choose whether or not she gets to wait outside.
With it initially being available in 37 states, the new smart lock bundle can be ordered exclusively by Amazon Prime users and forms part of a set of products and services offered by the company on the particular subscription. It will start shipping on November 8 and is available for $249.99.
Smart locks aren"t anything new, with several of them already being on sale at several retailers across the world. Amazon Prime is an annual subscription that gives access to Prime Video, Music, cheaper shipping rates, among others and will run you an annual rate of $99.99 or $10.99 per month.
