Today, AMD announced a couple of new mainstream Ryzen processors for desktops, the Ryzen 3 3300X and Ryzen 3 3100. Both processors are quad-core with eight threads and have a 65W TDP. The base frequencies are 3.8GHz and 2.6GHz, respectively, and the boost clock speeds are 4.3GHz and 3.9GHz.
They"re built on AMD"s new Zen 2 architecture, which means that Zen 2 is coming to new, lower price points. The 7nm architecture is the same that"s being used in Ryzen 4000 mobile processors, the processor in the Xbox Series X, and so on.
The AMD Ryzen 3 3100 costs just $99, while the Ryzen 3 3300X comes in at $120. Alongside the new processors is the B550 chipset, and AMD says that B550 motherboards are the only mainstream chipsets that have support for PCIe 4.0. That means that you"ll get twice the bandwidth as B450 motherboards.
The Ryzen 3 3100 and Ryzen 3 3300X processors will be available on May 21, and B550 motherboards will be available on June 16 from ODMs like ASRock, ASUS, Biostar, Colorful, GIGABYTE, and MSI.
