AMD moves on Moscow

Chip firm Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is to open an office in Moscow.

The firm quietly announced the move last week in a German press release, saying it wants to extend its reach into both the Russian and associated states, saying that these markets are showing significant growth.

AMD quotes Dataquest figures showing a 42 per cent plus growth in Russia as accounting for its interest in the market, and claims it already has a significant market share with the Athlon and Duron microprocessors.
