AMD"s first graphics driver release of November is here, the Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.11.1, and it brings along official support for four soon-launching games.
Those with a graphics card from the red team looking to pick up DiRT 5 (November 6), Assassin"s Creed Valhalla (November 10), Godfall (November 12), or Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (November 13) will want to update to this release for the best experience.
While AMD doesn’t go into detail on what sort of improvements does the driver carry for most of these games, it did say that Godfall will see up to 7% better performance on today"s 20.11.1 driver compared to last month"s 20.10.1 release. The tests were done on a machine running an RX 5700 XT.
This seems to be a games focused driver launch, as AMD has not detailed any bug fixes that come with the package. However, the company did target quite a few bugs in its previous releases. There are currently three known issues:
- Enhanced Sync may cause a black screen to occur when enabled on some games and system configurations. Any users who may be experiencing issues with Enhanced Sync enabled should disable it as a temporary workaround.
- Performance Metrics Overlay and the Performance Tuning tab incorrectly report higher than expected idle clock speeds on Radeon RX 5700 series graphics products. Performance and power consumption are not impacted by this incorrect reporting.
- Modifying the HDMI Scaling slider may cause FPS to become locked to 30.
The Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.11.1 is now available as an optional driver update via the AMD Radeon Software app on Windows. Separate download links can also be found on the driver"s official release notes page.
AMD just launched its Ryzen 5000 series desktop processes, but those looking forward to its upcoming RX 6000 series graphics card offerings will have to wait a few weeks. The Radeon RX 6800 and the RX 6800 XT will go on sale on November 18, while the Radeon RX 6900 XT is slated to launch on December 8.
