AMD"s CES 2022 keynote is currently underway and the company CEO Dr. Lisa Su started off the presentation with the introduction of its all-new Ryzen 6000 Rembrandt mobile APU lineup. We already had a pretty good idea of what to expect in terms of specifications thanks to an early leak that revealed these details.
However, the performance figures had eluded us which was the most exciting aspect of these new Rembrandt chips since AMD APUs are finally moving on from the Vega architecture to the newer and more refined RDNA 2. AMD claims the graphics performance is 2x or twice that of the last-gen Vega-based solutions.
The CPU portion itself with the new Zen 3+ cores is around 1.3x (30%) faster on average. The company is also touting 5GHz boost clocks which is really impressive for a mobile processor. AMD is moving to a 6nm lithography for Rembrandt.
AMD has also given some figures (image below) on how much faster the new Rembrandt chips are in terms of some common application performance. Note the figures below indicate best-case scenarios and not the general 30% average improvement it speaks about in the image before.
AMD is also boasting about battery life on these new 6nm Ryzen 6000 Rembrandt mobile APUs stating that users can expect up to a full day of battery life.
Finally, the company made an official announcement about the inclusion of Microsoft"s Pluton security processor. These are the first PC processors in the world to debut the Pluton feature.
