AMD has just introduced a new line of low-voltage mobile processors at this years CeBIT in Hanover Germany. Dubbed "Turion", AMD has launched an all out assault on Intel"s Centrino mobile processor. Turion processors feature 512k or 1MB of L2 cache, and will initially range in core speed from 1.6Ghz to 2.0Ghz. AMD has opted to include full SSE3 and EDB support in Turion, along with support for integrated wireless and single-channel DDR400.
"We have unleashed 64-bit mobile performance, allowing business professionals and on-the-go consumers to explore the freedom of mobile productivity with AMD Turion 64 mobile technology," said Marty Seyer, an exec with AMD. "This is just the first of many innovations that we are planning to pioneer with this new product family made for mobility, choice and best-in-class notebook designs."
We should start to see Turion powered products from the likes of Asus, Acer, and BenQ sometime in late April.
