A Chinese media outlet has published some benchmark numbers for the soon-to-be-released AMD Ryzen 5 3500X 6-core 6-thread CPU. Expected to be priced around $150, it is being aimed at budget-conscious shoppers as an alternative to Intel"s Core i5-9400F processor for mid-range gaming builds.
The AMD test system used here:
- AMD Ryzen 5 3500X,
- MSI B450M Mortar Max motherboard,
- 2x8GB DDR4 3000MHz,
- Maxsun Geforce GTX 1660 Terminator,
- Hikvision C2000 Pro 512GB NVMe SSD.
For the Intel test setup, the CPU and the accompanying motherboard were swapped out leaving the rest of the components identical. The Ryzen 5 3500X was replaced by the Core i5-9400F, and a B360M version of the same model took the place of the MSI B450M Mortar Max motherboard.
First up, the CPU-Z benchmark was run on both the processors to get a rough idea of their performances.

Another benchmark was run that likely measured the performance of the processors in 4 different scenarios like general desktop usage, light productivity usage, etc. The Ryzen outperforms the i5 in each of the 4 tests. Overall, the 3500X scored 332661 against the 9400F"s 317350.
