Earlier this week, HTC admitted that it would miss its own target for rolling out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to its One M8 and M7, but it assured users that they wouldn"t have to wait too much longer for it to arrive. The company had promised to offer Lollipop for its current and last-generation flagships by the beginning of this month, but only the Developer and Unlocked editions of the M8 have received the update so far.
However, for some users, the wait is at an end. HTC"s Mo Versi has tweeted that the update will begin rolling out for the One M7 today, and Sprint"s variant of the handset will be the first to get a taste of that sweet Lollipop goodness.
The OS version that will roll out to the One M7 is Android 5.0.1; curiously, that"s not the most recent update available for existing devices, which is actually version 5.0.2, now available for some Nexus models.
But while HTC is sticking with 5.0.1 for the time being, Google is already moving ahead with the next version of its operating system, Android 5.1, which made its first appearance on new Android One handsets that went on sale yesterday in Indonesia.
