Android 7.0 Nougat begins rolling out to Android One devices

Last month, Google began rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat, starting with some - but not all - of its Nexus devices.

Now, the company is expanding availability of the 7.0 update to more devices. As GSM Arena reports, Google has started to push Nougat to Android One devices, although so far, availability appears to be limited to the Cherry Mobile G1.

Last year, Google said that it planned to "reboot" Android One, its initiative to work with hardware partners to create low-cost smartphones with decent specs and features. While admitting that the program had "not delivered to expectations", Google"s Rajan Anandan said that the company aimed to help its partners make modern, capable smartphones widely available for as little as $50.

Google is expected to launch two high-end handsets - the Pixel and Pixel XL - next month with Nougat onboard. But LG will be the first manufacturer to release a device with Android 7.0 pre-installed, when it begins shipping its new V20 flagship later this month.
